go. So, who else would like to join me for a pilgrimage to see The One Who Brings Our G-mon To
Life?>>

M’Lady, Durham is ONE hour from me. AND I HAVE THE DAY OFF!!! Sorry. I had to beg and plead
with a manager who has no idea who the G-Mon is.

<<(who’s in need of the url to that con’s web site….)>>

If you’re talking about BabTrek, I don’t know that they have one. But their phone number is 1(888)ROC-
DATA. Or 1(888)762-3181.

I want to go but it’s sooooooo far!
Please G-mon-ites, let the Doyle-man know how much we appreciate the fun and yes, the (shall I say flair?)
je-ne-sais-quoi he brings to the role.
Dear Sainted Lady T, the Chief is the essence of sexy presence. C’mon, he cooks, HE COOKS (especially,
if Joe would write in a scene or two!), he plays baseball and he likes Daffy Duck. What’s to wonder?
Welcome all to folder #5!!! Such fun meeting you all here. We be set for the chat on the 23rd.

Durham folks – invite JD to the chat!

Capercaillie – who needs to add to the song list

Good Lord!
It just took me forty-five minutes to read my e-mail. You all are a riot! How do you come up with them –
and where do you find the time to write them all down?
Is there a definitive time (and place) for the G-mon chat yet?

I’m so excited….got my hotel reservations…..directions to the con….and I’m all registered and ready to
go….okay, I’m not packed yet, but I’ve got a few days for that.

PLUS…I found out they’re going to have a Valentine’s party Friday night and all the guests will be there
(yes, that includes the Doyle-mon), so I thought we should do something special for JD on Valentine’s Day.

I’ll be going out tomorrow to pick up a BIG Valentine’s Day card especially for The One Who Brings Our
G-mon To Life, and anyone who wants to “sign” it can just send me an e-mail. I thought about just using
the G-mon-ite declaree list, but not everyone’s name is on it, although I’ll probably use the declaree list as
well–can’t leave the internet G-mon-ites out! Also, let me know how you want your name shown (i.e., first
name, AOL nick, etc.).

This is so exciting. I get to meet Wrngtl, and hopefully her Garibaldi clone, AND I get to see The One
Who Brings Our G-mon To Life!

Troy–use your own discretion as to whether you should warn Mr. Doyle that She-of-the-Nun-Trained-
Voice and The Halo-ed One will be in Durham…. (teehee)

BTW, Troy, I’ve had a request to give the Doyle-mon a hug from EACH of the G-mon-ites, so I guess you
better not warn JD–if his wife finds out, he might not make it to Durham, and you don’t want lots of
disappointed fans in Durham, do you? But, then again, if I give him a hug for each and everyone of us,

Valentine’s Day with JERRY DOYLE !!!!!!! Ugh! I am going to be shuttleling children to ski lifts while you
are in sunny Durham with The One Who Brings The Real One to Life. To twist the knife, the handsome
husband will be in NYC for Valentine’s for the fourth straight year. (Hmmm, wasn’t Alan Alda in a movie
along that theme? Will have to pack a scanner in his suitcase! :) ) Oh, please give the G-mon a hug for me,
the one who waits last in Line that she might be ever after first. Actually, it’s a good thing I’m not going to
Durham – I would probably babble incoherently just when I wanted to make the best impression.
So, it is up to you, dear Sainted Lady and She-of-the-Nun-trained-Voice to sing our G-mon’s praises and
give him LOTS of hugs.

Sighing ever so deeply,

Maisfeeka exits, yawning, from Garibaldi’s quarters…
And promptly runs into an *entire line* of rather annoyed looking ladies-in-waiting – *waiting* being the
operative word.
Sorry to have held all of you up. I’ve simply been kept so, um, busy ( 😉 ) over the past few months that I
never even got to go outside. I had no idea that there were all these people waiting!
(I’d love to say that if I’d only *known* I’d have come out sooner, but you wouldn’t want me to lie would
you?)
Of course, now that I *do* know (and – more importantly – now that the Guardian knows about *me*), I
guess I’ll just have to go meekly to my place in line. Sigh…
Of course, if my G-Mon comes looking for me…. well, let’s just say that all bets are off.

Greetings from Maisfeeka, former lurker and great envier of those with online names who were able to post
in these wonderful folders. I love all of your posts (and your wonderful warm welcomes to all newcomers –
hint hint). I’m so excited to finally be able to join you – although the LadyT will confirm that I have been

Welcome Maisfeeka! We are always happy to to have a new G-monite! I take from your post that you have
been a lurker for sometime. I gather from your post that you wish to be one of the ladies of the Line. Your
story about where you have been these last few months will not hold water. I know from my own experience
that NO ONE but NO ONE gets past Sheridan98(Gina) and ‘She of the Nun Trained Voice’. But there is
always the fun of trying;). Get a number from Gina and exchange it with Caper, who is always last in Line
so she will be first(she’s a philosophical one, yes?)

Now for the important stuff…what’s your favorite kind of chocolate and what beverage do you dring with
your popcorn?

I just got a FedEx package from WaywardFlf. She sent three BEAUTIFUL color printouts–two views of
The Shrine and one pic of the G-mon alcove in the Epsilon3 Meditation Center (my favorite!)–for inclusion
in the Book of the G-mon I’ll be giving Mr. Doyle this weekend.

These three pics will truly make the book something Mr. Doyle will treasure! I’ll be using The Shrine pic
for the front cover and the G-mon alcove pic for the back cover, I’ll put the other Shrine view somewhere
inside–I haven’t figured out where yet.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, WaywardFlf, for doing this–all three pics are so special he’ll have one
heck of a time picking out his favorite, but I’m sure he’ll be incredibly touched by your work!

Taking the hint from the B5 trivia folder, I thought we could start our own G-mon trivia game. The rules
are pretty simple.

If you think you know the answer, post a reply. DO NOT ask a new question until the asker has okayed your
response.
People who ask the questions should check the board in a timely fashiopn so that the game doesn’t get held
up.

Here goes a fun one:

Why did Garibaldi cut short his date with the GROPOS soldier?
(Hint: there are two answers to this question and you must get both to win.)

Have fun!!! Capercaillie (who is no longer singing in the shower but is soaking in the tub after skiing all

We all know that no matter how brilliant the writing or directing may be, no two actors play a character

wasn’t explicit in the writing or direction? (And maybe the followup question is, why???)

Welcome Jenn!

{{{{{{Jenn1414}}}}}}

I do so much apologize if this folder impressed you as “cliqueish”. Cliques are filled with people who take
great pleasure is snubbing others–something that is definitely NOT allowed here!

We love everyone–grudingly, we even try to love those who don’t love our G-mon….okay, emphasis on
“try”.

All are welcome here. Join in if you wish–the “Line” stuff is what we do to keep ourselves from going
crazy during rerun h-e-double-toothpicks and during weeks when (JMS forbid!) our sweet G-mon is not in
an episode or is hardly seen.

BTW, I’m going to Durham, NC, this weekend to see Jerry Doyle at BAB-TREK. I’m taking a GIANT
Valentine’s Day card to present to the “Doyle-mon”, i.e., “He Who Brings Our G-mon To Life”–would you
like your name added? Just send me an e-mail by Thursday Night (I leave Friday morning).

Oh, and that offer goes out to the rest of you lurkers, too! ;^)

Don’t worry too much about the vicious little rat dogs. When approached by one, DO NOT RUN!

I felt the exact same way about this folder, and “lurked” for about 6 weeks before finding my (G-Monkee)
niche. Being that it was full of the female perspective and all.

I, as a male, looked to Garibaldi as a guide to behavior, kinda thing. He was alot like I wanted to be, in
relationship to people around me, and how I approached my job, and the like. But to try and express that in
this group (at the first finding) made me just a triffle nervous.

But upon closer examination, I realized that these postings were alot like a close friendship, which
maintained during the dry spells of new episodes…Once you get to know them, they aren’t all that
bad…Alittle dedicated, but alot of information can come of that…as imposing as they seem, the are more
than willing to accept anyone who wants to discuss Garibaldi!

It comes down to Garibaldi the character and whether or not you love, like, or admire the actor, character,
or situations he encounters…

Though I admit that I have not, until now, really expressed anything relating to Garibaldi, since I had not
seen a new episode, from the time of “joining” myself to this little group, but with new episodes, watch
out…Now the opinionated monster is unleashed, {if I get the guts up to write what I feel.}

Are any of you from the Southern CA area, and know of any upcoming conventions. We are also new to

Take heart – I am a computer nepophte and have found that if I don’t know how to do anything, I just ask
and someone always answers me.

Speaking of answers, my trivia idea fell flat but the two-part answer was….

In an unusual move, JD suggested that Garibaldi call the date short because as Garibaldi said, fairly
recently, someone he trusted shot him in the back. So Garibaldi canceled the date at Jerry’s initiation.

Have a GREAT time at the Con and bring back DETAILS!

For whoever is game….Who did Lise marry? (I know its an easy one but it’s all in the delivery.)

First, as TAPESTRY6 posted elsewhere, we saw quite a range of emotions from the Chief in this ep, which
leads me to wondering what’s Mr. G, what’s the program or whatever-it-is, and what’s (if I may suggest
another twist) Garibladi’s attempt to resist or counteract the programming? I don’t think we should assume
that the man has succumbed.

Second, was anyone else struck by the thought that Garibaldi’s resignation monologue suggested that he had
spent a good bit of time coming up with his own answer to the question “What do you want?” Should we be
frightened by that?

Third, we know that Garibaldi was betrayed (shot in the back counts as betrayed in my book) by his second
in command at the end of season 1. His “I took a chance on you and look how well it worked out” speech
to Zack in this episode makes me wonder if Zack will be counterpoint to that experience and be the one to
“rescue” Garibaldi or if the theme will be repeated and Zack will prove in fact to be a villian.

4. Did anyone think Garibaldi’s initial reaction to G’Kar was odd? He ultimately apologized but the first
reaction seemed to be fear. Didn’t seem to fit?

5. and finally (at least for the moment) thoughts on the title. An epiphany is “an appearance or
manifestation, esp. of a deity” or “a sudden intuitive perception of or insight into the reality or essential
meaning of something, usually initiated by some simple or commonplace experience.”
Perhaps Garibaldi had an epiphany while shaving, but what other epiphanies did we see?

Perhaps Garibaldi had an epiphany while shaving, but what other epiphanies did we see?

Hello, dear Mongoose.
I wish I could serenade you sweetly upon your return but am afraid the frequency would hurt the dear
Mongoose’s little eardrums. It is GREAT to have you back.

The handsome husband has returned from the big city to many hugs and kisses – is putting mini-mimbari to

So, I’m wondering, where are the details from the trip? I hope all was fun.

Thanks to all for providing spoiler space. Epiphanies has not aired yet here.

Wondering if waiting in line is such a good idea after all – the party idea definitely swings!!

Poor Bester.

He thinks he has such a wonderful idea, but how subtle will Michael be with a cargo liner full of the
ladies-of-the-line following him everywhere he goes? Not to mention miscellaneous ships for G-Monkees
and the like.
Does anyone have any of the Cabbage Pac Mara left? I may have a use for one or two.
I think I’d better rewatch a happy Garibaldi episode before I go out and lie in the road for a while.
On a lighter note, I have a friend who may be interested in joining the duct work crowd. Of course she
wants her screen name to be EVTooms (ie: Eugenia Victoria Tooms – any X-philes posting here? I’d talk
more about it, but if I started talking about a certain bald-headed man I might be exiled to Epsilon 3.
However, rumor has it that there may be a line forming outside a certain office in the J. Edgar Hoover
building. Fortunately, I am such a loyal G-monite I could never consider joining that line. Or…. No! No!
Don’t throw me out of line!)

No word as to who. The LadyT got to give him the card and the Book of G’Mon. (I couldn’t limp fast
enough — she had a total of two minutes.) Very nice man, apparently hasn’t done many of these — he was
talking to *everyone* in the autograph line. (Me, of course, stammering like English was my second

never hear “cut” (one scene in particular that he could mention — because it’s long since aired — with
Dwight Schultz in “The Long Dark”). Playing a practical joke on Rick Biggs. 😉 He doesn’t watch the dailies
or the completed eps much (“too painful”), but was very up on the character, unlike some actors I’ve heard
speak (no names, please). All in all, I had a great day. :)

Yes, Garibaldi would make a poor spy with all those people following him everywhere! He just couldn’t get
any privacy to sabotage anything, with the ladies molesting him, the G-Monkees asking advice, and
whatsuch.

From watching Epiphanies, I gather that he may have some control over himself…This could be cool to see,
when they ask him to do something and he turns on them. Alot of things just don’t add up, maybe Psych is
just reading way too much, but the effort he is putting into making Zack’s transition easy (with the codes and
the like). And the cool, calm, rational resignation…It was with a reason! It wasn’t just “getting out of the
way.” He gave them a reason, that sounded from the heart, maybe related to he knows he’s messed up with
programming and is fighting it.

Now next episode, he will be interviewed by the ISN crew about what’s wrong, or something along those
lines, with the station. This could be very interesting to the development of the Garibaldi
storyline….hmmmm….

Alas, the universe smiled upon me greatly last weekend, but not as greatly as I would have wished. (sigh)
Take heart, though, brave G-mon-ites–The Lady *does* have some interesting tales to tell…..

First: Did he get the card and book? Yes.
Second: Is he as good-looking in person? ABSOFRAGGINLUTELY!!!!

Yes, I got close to the Doyle-mon. I got to speak to the Doyle-mon (for exactly two minutes–sniff–but I
got TWO MINUTES with him!)

The weekend was a rough one for Mr. Doyle. He had planned on flying out first thing in the morning on
Friday, but found out he had to work. He worked until about eight or nine that night, then took the redeye,
which routed him through Alaska (or some other ridiculous place) and got him to Durham a bit before 10am
Saturday morning. He managed a few hours’ nap, then got up for his three o’clock presentation, then signed
autographs for about an hour and a half, then went back to his room. I’m not sure what happened after that,
but the next morning I’d heard he played blackjack with a bunch of folks in the hotel bar until about 6:30 in
the morning–he verified that at his presentation the next day. After another short nap, he got up at 9:55 to
have breakfast with some friends of the producer (which producer? he didn’t say), then showed up at his
noon presentation wearing dark glasses and begging for a beer (chuckle).

That’s the short of it…..and the long story will come later…..

them…..but since you all want the long version, I guess I’d better do that first (sigh).

Here are some questions and observations to add some fresh discussions to this forum.

Suppose Garibaldi is the “ace in the hole” Bester refers to. Those flashbacks from G-mon’s post
conditioning interrogation show a psi-cop with Bester’s build? Does the G-mon have treason in his
character?

I wonder if Garibaldi is to be used purely for propaganda purposes or will he be given more covert acts of
sabotage to undermine B-5?

Can Sheridan afford to have someone with Garibaldi’s knowledge of B-5 around without being absolutely
sure of him. Will he have Lyta scan him? If the conditioning is so thorough and Lyta is indeed such a
strong telepath, can she neutralize it’s effects and bring the old G-mon?

Any ideas?

is in his past that made him paranoid before he was

Have great hopes that Garibaldi as we like him will
survive what ever JMS throws his way….keep telling
myself over and over that was does not kill us
strengthens us……

Everyone on that station seems to have something
in their past that hangs over them….whether they
are aware of it or not….what’s Mr. Garibaldi’s secret.

He told Delenn once that some things in the past
should remain buried….always wondered what it
was in his past that should remain buried…..

Strikes me that Garibaldi is not –at least thus far — trying to undermine B5 as he is concerned about

greetings all. welcome back mongoose!! you were much missed.

i have returned from just this side of death (severe stomach flu – the kind you have to die from to feel better)
and having watched ephiphanies (sp?) i must wonder if our favorite security chief has had rather a lot of his
brain washed. remember talia and her false personality? how real it was until the facade was cracked open?
totally different person.

anyhow, i suspect that mr. bester has tampered with mr. garibaldi’s head to send him off on his little tangent
and make the chief think it’s his supposed desire to start fresh. mix in some new psi corps devilry (like
undermining b5 on next week’s show as just step one) and you have the rest of this season.

i have to agree that he is probably bester’s ace in the hole, but what about the keepers? and how the devil
did it suddenly appear on the regent’s neck?

From: TheLadyT
Posted on: America Online

The Lady arrived after a long (4 1/2 hr) but pleasant drive to Durham, NC, from lovely Burke, VA. The
directions given to the hotel were lousy, although Durham is such a small place, and the Lady quite
resourceful, that she managed to find it after all. Upon arrival she called Wrngtl, then went to register and
seek out the Con planners to arrange for her presentation to Mr. Doyle. Great saddness engulfed the Lady
upon hearing that Mr. Doyle would not be at the party–he had to work–but was assured she would be given
a few minutes with him the next day. In sorrow she returned to her room to inform Wrngtl.

She went down to the “Big Room” at 9:30 and got to see both Walter Koenig and Andrew Robinson up
close, which was kinda neat, but once the presentations were over, the party didn’t look like a lot of fun (ah,
to have had a Vorlon costume and be able to watch the snert-fest anonymously–chuckle) so again the Lady
retreated to her room–this time for a good night’s rest for the next day’s activities.

The day began with Mr. Koenig’s presentation at eleven. Wrngtl and her sweet Garibaldi-
personality clone were unable to arrive before the presentation began, but managed to find the Lady and
join her shortly after it started. Mr. Koenig’s presentation was quite good, and he showed two clips of a
scene from “Epiphanies”–the director’s cut and the producer’s cut–which made the Lady all the more
determined to convince The Great Maker that his scripts *must* get published (I started bugging him about
that not too long ago). The “cut” stuff included a speach by Bestor telling the command staff they should be
“grateful” to him because he helped divert attention from B5 while they were searching for telepaths to help
fight in the war! Of course Bestor delivered it in his usual snide manner, so they could hardly thank him
(hehe). Mr. Koenig also told us that he got the part of Bestor because of a heart attack: seems he was up
for an earlier (smaller) role, but because he was recovering from a heart attack he was unable to do it, JMS
later offered him the role of Bestor. (Wrngtl–if I missed anything, please let everyone know)

The three then proceeded to Dealer’s Room, where they took great delight looking at all the stuff for sale.
The Lady, with the Garibaldi-personality clone’s encouragement, even took a close look at a sword display–
ye, verily, she didst handle those weapons, and took great pleasure in their making (sigh). During their trek
through the room, they saw a great metalic creature walking about. The Lady was so enthralled by the
creature that she took many pictures, and both she and the Garibaldi-personality clone posed for a few with
the beastie. Alas, Wrngtl would not pose for pics.

Somewhere among all this frivolity, the three ate lunch, discussed life and their love of science fiction, and
generally enjoyed themselves as they waited for the moment for the Lady to have her “two minutes” with
Mr. Doyle.

At last the time came. With book and giant card in hand, the Lady met the Con planner and they headed up
the elevator. The Lady’s head swam in anticipation as she tried to look her serene best as the moments
stretched into eternity. As she waited in the reception area of the coveted ninth floor, she made small talk
with the young “guardian” who kept all who did not belong out. At last she heard that special voice
approach from around the corner and down the hall. Her breath training served her well as he came into
sight. She talked quickly, knowing her time was short. “Jeez, you couldn’t find a bigger card?” he says
laughingly. “Actually, no. That was the biggest they had,” she replies. As she hands him the book, she
quickly tells him of the Shrine of Garibaldi and the Church of Joe. “Whoa, don’t let Joe know about that,”
he comments. “He already knows,” the Lady replies cheerfully. He glances through the book, commenting
on it’s size, and the Lady proudly states that the site’s only been open since January 6th (okay, so I didn’t tell
him that some of the contents date back to October…). The Con planner comments that the book looked
like it would be good reading material for the plane ride home. Suddenly, her time was up. Some people
were getting on the elevator and the Con planner smiled briefly, glanced at the elevator, and said “We’ll see
you downstairs later.” The Lady’s heart sank as she realized she was summarily dismissed. She steps on the
elevator, barely noticing those around her, and waits for it to reach the first floor where she joined her
friends, Wrngtl and her sweet Garibaldi-personality clone husband.

(More later….but I figured I’d better post at least this much before the lynch mob came after me for
“withholding vital information”–chuckle)

Carolyn,

Sometimes, you can be very aware of your feelings and yet have to sublimate them or stuff them into an
empty room in your head and lock the door. And yes, I agree, that each is wounded in some way, but if the
wounds do not destroy, they ennoble you. Or something like that. If I didn’t believe that life is a learning
experience, I would long ago have opted out. I feel I am better in some ways, and dwindled in others,
something I think the crew of B5 would heartily agree with.
(Sorry, English police out there, that I dangled a participle. Just got carried away!!!)

It helps when you’ve done something before then that you can consider even scarier than meeting the Doyle-
mon. I was lucky enough to have come face-to-face with someone I actually admire more than the Doyle-
mon last October. Although I probably made a fool of myself then, I came out of it less fearful.
HOWEVER, that’s not to say that in front of the Doyle-mon himself, my palms weren’t sweaty and my
knees weren’t unsteady–yup, I was a wreck! :^P

I’d pass out cold. Or have a coranary arrest. Meeting jms was hard. Apologizing for stepping on his foot
was harder. Talk about embarassed! Sigh. Maybe someday(with paramedics at my side)I’ll go see the one

CRAZY!!!!!!

Thanks, dear Lady T for the description of your visit with G-mon. I liked your statement about thinking
about an even more stressful event. You know, I was held up at gunpoint (in my car, no less) and also did a
program for 750 junior high students. Of the two, the second experience was much scarier. A recent study
revealed that public speaking is the number one fear among Americans. (Get this – “death” is fifth!!)

But, back to the G-mon. So glad to hear he’s reallly GORGEOUS. I thought he looked pretty good in
Epiphanies. I liked the episode. I think Garibaldi knows they have messed with his mind and he is
determined to remove himself from an office of responsibility where he could do some damage to B5.
However, he is staying on teh station because either:
1)the program won’t let him leave
2)he still thinks he can serve the station somehow
3)or I’m wrong all along and he’s the demon (no, JMS, no!)

The scene with G’Kar was good. It had bothered me that Garibaldi had not resolved the issue with G’Kar.

I am looking forward to seeing JMS this summer. Hope you all have fun in Florida. We’ll be in D.C. March
17-19. Hope to meet you for Flarn.

Singing in the rain, now. Capercaillie I told Holly this one already. The handsome hubby and I are
judging a karaoke contest tonight. I may have to sing the Lumberjack song.

I don’t know….

I kinda have the sneaking suspicion that Bester sent the “psychedelic” message to the Gmon.
If Bester had anything to do with Gmon’s programming, it would be best to get him out of the way so there
would be no chance of Gmon remembering that Bester was involved in the programming.
Resigning would keep Gmon out of the planning sessions, and away from Bester. By staying on the station,
he could still be Bester’s “ace in the hole”.

Way off base?…Hope so!

As a diehard Babylon5 fan I have to say I am getting disappointed in the show. When the first season ended
they replaced Sinclair with Sheridan. I was surprised but not upset because for me the best character was
still Garibaldi. Now all the show seems to do is focus on the Delenn-Sheridan relationship with a few side
bits for what I consider the most intriguing characters. Garibaldi is being foreshadowed as a potential
villain, Lennier is all but forgotten, the Doctor and Marcus will have spots here and there but for the most
part they will be out of the story arc.

I say kill off Sheridan and concentrate on Garibaldi. Bring back Talia Winters. If the romantics want some
love interests, start something between Zack and Lyta. Garibaldi is the best character on this show, don’t let
him become something totally out of character… like a traitor to the cause.

There is one saving grace though, JMS is renowned for his ability to show you something totally obvious
and then pull a fast one…..just because it appears Garibaldi is the pawn of the shadows or psi corps, doesn’t
mean it’s true. That image in the mirror in “Ephiphanies” reminded me of the technomages. If you
remember, they said they were leaving until after the war between light and darkness was over. It’s now
over. Mabe they enlisted Garibaldi as an ally against the psi-corps, and maybe Sheridan is the villain after
all. I hope so!

I heartily agree. I’d love to see Sheridan as the villain (may all my JS-loving friends forgive me).

Moreover, a marvelous theory was put in this folder (or was it #4?) that what actually happened to Michael
was that he was kidnapped, could not remember what happened on the Shadow vessel, and so was then
pseudo-brainwashed so that what they are, in reality, doing to him is causing him to question his own sanity
and loyalty to Babylon 5. Hence the reason for his resignation–he didn’t want to endanger his friends in
case he really was brainwashed.

Okay, it’s a twisted theory….but we’re a twisted group (hehe).

Well with the way jms writes we are all probably all wrong. He just has that wasy of giving each story
thread one last little twist. Garibaldi keeps having memory flashbacks. I would think that whever had
kiddnapped him would not have wanted him to have any memory of it so perhaps their programming was
incomplete. I think he is was right to distrust Sheridan becauuse of the way Sheridan was acting.

This is a job tailor-made for the G-Mon, utilizing many of his talents. It could also enable him to poke
around and collect information about his disappearance in an oblique way. Or to collect information about
any odd events around the station or elsewhere at that time.

He certainly seems to have fought the conditioning from the start. This, in a person who has to be rigidly in
control of himself and his environment, is natural. Perhaps the very reason why the conditioning didn’t
completely “take”. The glimpses behind the curtain in his mind seem to be coming with some frequency
and will undoubtedly get both more frequent and broader. I await the unfolding of events with anticipation.

Excellent thought! It would also be a good explanation for his criticism of Sheridan in IoT–make people
think he’s no longer loyal to Sheridan so they’ll be more open while he’s “poking around.” Gee–I really

I had a chilling thought last night that I’d like to throw out for reactions. I noted in watching Illusions that
Garibaldi seemed fairly normal ( well, more pleasant than usual but otherwise normal) *except* when and
where it concerned Sheridan. I wondered why programming that appeared to be done by PsiCorps would
only make him react that way to Sheridan. Then I remembered Sheridan’s dream, in which we see Sheridan
in what appears to be a PsiCorps uniform. Is it possible that Garibaldi is fighting the programming and
knows, on some level, that in fact Sheridan is responsible for what’s happened to him? I know Sheridan is
the “hero” in general and the “victim” of this episode, but remember, this is the Illusion of Truth.

Is anybody else as creeped out about this as I am?

WOW! I have to say my eyes are still bugged out of my head! What a thought, and quite frankly the best
I’ve heard yet! That part of Sheridan’s dream has always bugged me. Why would *he* be in a PsiCorps
uniform? Didn’t make much sense to me. And your comment of Sheridan being the hero and the ep being
called Illusion of Truth really has me thinking! JMS is always doing this. Having the meaning for
something mean more than one or even two things (am I making sense?).
And I also agree with your take on Garibaldi’s demeanor. He didn’t seem as uptight and nervous to me
*until* he saw Sheridan! I still can’t get the picture of Sheridans face out of my head when he saw
Garibaldi at that table. And something else that has bothered me about Sheridan is when he was taken
ahead in time and came to Londo’s court. Londo blamed *him* for all of the problems occuring on
Centauri Prime. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

It creeps me out that no one seems to care that Garibaldi is acting strange. Sheridan seems aware that
something is going on, but does nothing about it. So maybe your right. He knows more than he says. And
what about Ivanova? I thought they were pretty close, but she doesn’t even seem concerned. I hope Zack
does SOMETHING to help. It doesn’t look like anyone else is going to.

Ok…..this is the story of Jeffrey Sinclair, someone, I believe JMS, once said. Sheridan is
not the focus of this story. He is part of it….and that becomes very clear when we find
out in Atonement that Sinclair….as Valen…married and had children and that Delenn is
one of his descendents…….so her story is his story……and then comes Sheridan through
his association with Delenn……what was, what is and what will be which is more correctly
the child of Delenn and Sheridan…..David……which I had said long ago could be named for
both Sheridan’s father and Jeffrey David Sinclair……Delenn’s ancestor…..

OOOOOOH, Carolyn,

Yes, his hatred, and there can be no other word for that look in his eyes, of Sheridan is indeed chilling. I
tend to think that is his programming coming to the fore, so to speak. He is just one of the forces meant to
come spinning at Sheridan like the Shadow’s missiles came shooting toward the White Star. Any or all are
meant to take out “nexus.” Perhaps the Shadows had decided that to eliminate Sheridan was to create a
martyr for the AoL to unite behind; perhaps, that was just their first line of reasoning. Second: to kill him if
he didn’t “convert”, regardless. However, the Shadows are gone and are no longer running that particular
show. Their allies and THEIR puppets, i.e., PsiCorps, EarthGov, etc., now are. Their game plan, since the
Shadows are gone, could well be the destruction by any and all means of Sheridan. Therefore, Garibaldi
and his conditioned hatred.

I read somewhere that JMS was a Prisoner fan.

Also – and this makes me *very* nervous – read somewhere that JMS purposely makes bad things happen to
characters viewers like because then the crisis has more impact. If that’s the case, I can only reiterate the
classic Lady T line, “Joe, if you kill him off before”…..so to speak….the Line shortens….I’ll scream. (Okay,
horribly misquoted but you get the idea!)

Had posted report earlier but don’t know if it made it on the board. AOL has been acting a little funky
lately (again?). Anyway, here goes again.

Spent President’s Day weekend searching in the Greater Albany (NY) area and can report that it is
nowhere in the Capitol District area of NY. Also had crew conduct countless treks up & down Mt. Snow in
VT and can report with upmost certainty that it is also not there lost in a snowbank. Am waiting for
Starfury to be fueled and weapons systems checked and loaded to expand search area. Will keep everyone
posted.

PS–Also have conducted extensive search closer to home and have not had any luck in mid-state CT.
Speaking of home I even checked my closet. No luck.

Missy,
My take on it is that Sheriden’s trip to Za’ha’dum caused the Shadow’s allies to leave early and they
headed for Centari Prime to take up residence and to get their revenge. So Londo then blames Sheriden for
the Keepers coming to Centari Prime.

For those of you who are wondering what the lyrics are: here!

Macker
——————–

On The Turning Away
From the pale and downtrodden
and the words they say
which we won’t understand:
“Don’t accept that what’s happening
is just a case of others’ suffering
or you’ll find that you’re joining in
The Turning Away.”

It’s a sin that somehow
light is changing to shadow
and casting its shroud over all we have known
unaware how the ranks have grown,
driven on by a heart of stone,
we could find that we’re all alone
in the dream of the proud.

On the wings of the night
as the daytime is stirring
where the speechless unite in a silent accord
using words you will find are strange,
and mesmerized as they light the flame,
feel the new wind of change
on the wings of the night.

No More Turning Away
from the weak and the weary!
No More Turning Away from the coldness inside!
Just a world that we all must share,
it’s not enough just to stand and stare.
Is it only a dream that there’ll be
No More Turning Away?

Hi all! I’m finally back on the B5 board and I can tell I have really missed a lot of really cool stuff– like the
chat room for the G-mon’s B-day <sniff>

I was wondering if anyone had heard about the WorldCon that will be taking place in the scenic city of San
Antonio, Texas (about 132mi from me) over Labor Day weekend this year? I know it’s really a ways away
but I’m starting to cut back on the Chocolate (well, a little anyway, I mean we are going back into reruns,
after all) and I’ve even started putting regular unleaded in the starfury as ways to save a few credits for this
Convention. I was sort of hoping that maybe a few of us could meet there and, while I’m hoping, maybe the
G-mon might get asked to be there…. so far no guests have been named yet…. maybe they’ll invite Troy, too.
(I like to meet the guy who weathered all of the frustration from the Ladies of the Line so well.) Just call
me a rambler tonight……(sigh) by tomorrow I’ll be behind on the board and the e-mail again : ) It’s kind of
cool to get so much mail!

Missy,

Secret Agent man and The Prisoner both starred Patrick McGoohan…..
The first was the stories of a British Secret Agent that came out about
the time of the first Sean Connery James Bond movies….

Later….there was this wierd series about a former agent who tries to
retire and finds himself on this island (?) where everyone has a number
and no one has a name….kind of a surrealistic setting with strange
white bubble that smothers anyone that tries to escape but does not
kill them……our hero (?) constantly rebels against system and depersonalization
in this confinement…..

At least that’s what I think I saw….the series was unusually strange and I was
fairly young when I saw it….

Hi, all. Please pardon this lurker (geddit? geddit?) for coming out of the shadows (snurg) if only for a
moment. Ahem. To continue.
>>Of course I could also be all wet with this theory. It wouldn’t be the first time.<< Dear, dear MAS. You
may be all wet, but I refuse to speculate as to what with, seeing as how your theory is dead-on accurate. I
was at Gallifrey One on Valentines Day weekend (shame on you if you missed it). JMS graced us with his
presence on Sunday, and, yes, he said it. His exact words were, I believe, “Yes, that future’s now set.” I
would have objected loudly, but I was just too flabbergasted to speak. Sigh.
Regarding Garabaldi’s little personality change; I just think of Talia Winters and shudder.
Doesn’t it strike anyone a little odd, that Sheriden’s suddenly developed this little memory problem?
‘Hmmm. Garabaldi disappears, has no memory of what happened, and suddenly starts acting oddly. Huh.
Musta been a bad lasagne.’ Sorry, I’d be going deaf with all the alarm bells going off in my head. ‘Course,
everyone else seems to have had that little lapse.
Then, (I’m almost done, promise.) Sheriden seems to have forgotten his trip to the future. (Londo: ‘You
won, but not completely.’) Who was that leaving ZaHa’Dum just before it blew? Nah, must be seeing things.
I don’t know if this is the great JMS or the characters, but it bothers me. Whew. Sorry I rambled so long. I’m

Very good. :) They (represented by Number 2 — always someone different, except the last episode) wanted
“information”. The big question always was WHO were they? His own government? An opposing
government? (Remember this was the height of the Cold War.) And you want really bizarre? The place
where the exterior shots of the Village were filmed was a resort in Portmeiron, Wales. In WWII, guess what
it was used for?

All the eps are avaliable on tape. The only one I have is the last one, and the graphic novel sequel done in

Catherine(CPTSimian) writes “This Johnny Rivers classic, you would apply to Garibaldi? Gee, can’t
imagine why…”

So with the lyrics she kindly supplied, I set to work on the song. But honestly, how’s a girl supposed to
concentrate?. As I read the words, I kept conjuring up images of the G-mon. How was I to write the song
when I was off on an Adventure in Lyricsland….

There’s a man who leads a life of danger (Grey 17 opening credits shot)
To everyone he meets, he stays a stranger (Hunter/Prey in disguise)
With every move he makes (GROPOS “nice butt”)
Another chance he takes,
Odds are he won’t live to see tomorrow.(Severed Dreams fight with marines)

Beware of pretty faces that you find. (in the elevator with Talia)
A pretty face can hide such an evil mind (Divided Loyalties hauling out Talia)
Aw, be careful what you say (Whatever Happened…in the cell)
You’ll give yourself away (Ceremonies “if I ever let go”)
Odds are, you won’t live to see tomorrow (Babylon Squared “moment I was born for”)

So I’m happily in B5-land when I come to the third verse…

Swingin’ on the Riviera one day,
Lyin’ in the Bombay alley next day”

And there he is (disclaimer- in my daydreams, JMS, this is *not* a storyline), Michael Garibaldi, but
dressed in Patrick McGoohan’s (I loved Thomasina, too!!!) cool 60’s outfits. He’s moving suavely through
the Monaco casinos, running from danger in the Casbah when I come to

You let the wrong words slip
While kissing persuasive lips

Really!! What’s a girl supposed to do? With those lines in mind (along with JD’s eyes and lips), suddenly
I’m a blithering idiot, a tongue-tied floozie (normally, I am more than *loquacious*) – and am eternally
relieved that the cool-to-her-fingertips Lady T met Jerry Doyle and not me. I would have melted into butter
(for his 2nd favorite thing) on the spot_______(puddle of caper butter on the floor). So maybe the *real*
reason I am last (and ever after first) in Line is unadultered fear of liquification.

Melting even now, Capercaillie

I remember the ep where he manages to escape and make his way back to London. Someone else, a
woman, is living in his flat, driving his car, etc. In the end (of course) he is sent back to the island. I think
the point of the whole arc, which Patrick McGoohan wrote, developed and cut off, is that it WAS his own
government testing him to see if he would break, i.e., reveal all the secrets in his head. You see, he wanted
to resign and they would have preferred to eliminate him. {Creepy music here, folks} He just knew too
much!!!!

Korina–why don’t you go de-lurk in the AskJMS folder and post this question there? Yes, I’m pretty
creeped out about this too. However, there *is* one possible explanation, however lame, for Sheridan’s
behavior….remember after Franklin was stabbed Sheridan went back to ask him to take his job back–
Sheridan gave the excuse that he didn’t quite know what to say and that he felt he should have talked to
Franklin sooner. Well, if Sheridan is feeling “uncomfortable” and “unsure what to say” it *could* explain
his behavior. However, I think that’s pretty lame if that’s JMS’s reasoning….

You haven’t truly experienced The Prisoner until you’ve watched the entire show as a child. I was around 5

Sheridan doesn’t seem to be at a loss for words anywhere else. Rather he seems to be taking the initiative,
taking it single-handedly as opposed to the collaborative decision making we saw earlier in the series, and
taking his stands with a vehemence that I personally find frightening. His “orders” to Marcus and Franklin
in Atonement scared me. He comes across as a very angry man. Not the Sheridan I came to respect. I’m

Yesterday’s sermon cracked me up. I mean, it could have been the Shadows and the Vorlons all over again.
The minister was discussing the dichotomy of order vs. chaos, lamb vs. lion, innocence and experience.
Believe it or not, she even mentioned answering the questions, “who are you?” and “what do you want?”.
After church I told her about the recent storyline on B5 and she got a big kick out of it – she wants to
borrow my tapes! Will I go to hell for this?

Back to the G-mon, or just the G-mon’s back, missed him in Atonement but look forward to Grey 17 just for
the last scene. It will be sad though, because Sheridan and Garibaldi seemed to be good friends in that one.

Atonement = at one ment

Another thought, Garibaldi remembered a bit more in “Illusions”. What else is he going to remember. If he
can remember a little, does that indicate that the programming was not a complete success?

Caper, thoroughly doused in butter, who must share one more childhood memory – I remember I thought my
Dad was so smart because in the first ten minutes of the show, he figured out that the sad lonely widower in
Thomasina would end up marrying the attractive witch who lived alone in the woods and cured the animals.

Garibaldi, these new days, seems to exist in a vacuum. Even tho a loner, he still interacted with the others
of the Inner Circle, most especially Franklin and Sheridan, whom he seemed to genuinely like. Now,
everyone seems to be skirting around the vacuum around Garibaldi. One reason could be that all are wary
about his disappearance and his lack of explanation of what went on during that time. All are probably
afraid that something bad may have happened. Going and asking the man will not help. If he has been
programmed (the thinking might go), he wouldn’t be able to tell them anyway (see Talia Winter). It’s as if
everyone is waiting for the time-bomb (G-mon) to go off, giving him enough space so that they won’t get
caught in the fallout.

No, the Netter release DOES NOT specifically state that there will not be a season 5. It talks about the

Speaking of spies did anyone see the premiere of a new show last night on CBS called “Spy Games”.
Funniest thing I’ve seen in years. Funny because it’s the silliest show yet. The best part was seeing two
people I enjoyed watching years ago. Patrick McNee (John Steed-The Avengers) and Peter Lupas (Willy-
Mission Impossible) It was great to see them again.

Old spies never die, they just fade into the background.

BTW, they had another character called “Quill”. Anybody remember him from years ago??

Oh, Robert Culp (ISpy) also made an appearance in the last scene.

So maybe we are living in re-run h*%% but we WILL survive…just like Mr. G has.

Was looking in Lurkers files and saw old JDoyle chat. Read it through and saw mention that Garibaldi, per
J Doyle, per jms, is going to go out in a blaze of glory. Ladies, buy up kleenex stock (and by the way, buy
up several boxes for home consumption)! I fear the news on he of the cute front and back is not too long

Can we take hope from the Garibaldi voice-over in the opening credits? Would he be telling part of the
story if he is dead (or gone)? However, I, too, remember reading somewhere that this was going to be a dark
season and that events were going to treat some characters more severely than others. But, I also recall some
JMS interview in which he said the character he most closely related to was our beloved G-mon – is JMS
really going to “do in” his alter ego?

I agree that the old Garibaldi was the one that started this whole thing, but I am willing to stick it out with
this new, albeit-altered version. He is most definitely eye-candy.

Okay, one more quick trip to memory lane. Tuesday, while on my early morning jog (slow trot turning to
walk), I was thinking about the old shows my family used to watch together and I remember my folks really
liked “It Takes a Thief” with Robert Wagner (in fact, my younger sister was to named “Alexander” after the
lead character). All of a sudden, I have an epiphany!!!! Yes, Babyon 5 is better than the Kevin Bacon game
because……”It Takes a Thief” co-starred none other than Malachi Throme, the actor who portryed the
beloved minister Malachi, who was so cruelly murdered by out by Refa’a henchmen!

I know this is the Garibaldi board and my discourses don’t always focus on him, but G-mon brought us all
together and he is the glue – not the only item on the menu. Now, no one go on a diatribe about this…..I’m
still recovering from the last round of negatism.

What an excellent message!!! Now, I can dream…..oh, thanks so much for this fodder for imagination!

What did you all think of “Illusion of Truth”? It was interesting and unsettling to watch that episode and
then “Schindler’s List”. I was concerned at Garibaldi’s undisguised disgust of Sheridan. Has the Captain
reallly done anything to merit that degree of distaste? Up to that point, I could see some of the reasons for
Garibaldi’s dissatisfaction but I’m afraid that degree can only be explained by (shrieks of “oh, no”!!!!) a
mind plant……or……by JMS in his infinite wisdom. Can’t wait until the G-mon episode. Rerun He$$ is

Subj: Garibaldi’s adjustment
Date: 3/8/97 4:08:09 AM
From: EnsGVHASG
Posted on: America Online

I am sorry that I am still in uniform. I would occasionally delurk (but remain in line) and post with the
name Nudnik. I decided that I would join Security and maybe I could get closer. Anyway, it has been
several months since I read this and just finished a marathon of catching up. It is good to see many of the
same faces still.

I did want to make one point about Garibaldi’s attitude adjustment which came in the form of the
psychodelic transmission. If you remember in the episode called Spider in the Web Abel Horn was an
assasin that was sent to make an assasination of a businessman look like something done by the Free Mars
movement. He went to a terminal and received “psychodelic” orders from Bureau 13. We haven’t heard
anymore from this group of telepaths and since all of the storylines have always fed into each other I feel
that this has something to do with Garibaldi’s current condition.

As for Sheridan, Lorien (sp) was one of the First Ones and he might have well prepared Sheridan for what
could have happened to Michael. Not to mention his total lack of communicating with Gardibaldi, who he
was close to leads me to believe that there is something going on and it is planned. I really believe that
Michael is fighting the programming tooth and nail because of all of the flashbacks that he is having. Abel
had those same type of flashbacks in that episode also. That was when he remembered what had happened
to him and he revealed it to Talia.

Okay, I have run on long enough and I request permission to join the line again.

Vicky

Welcome Back Vicky! Believe it or not, I remember seeing a post or two by Nudnik….

I also believe that Michael is fighting this tooth and nail. I also am beginning to believe he’s deliberately
pushing John away *because* he’s so afraid of this programming. I rewatched Illusions of Truth today and
noticed that Sheridan really was trying to approach Michael and Michael gave him such a dirty look that
John turned away in disgust. (sigh–guess I can’t blame Sheridan anymore)

Keep up the faith, Vicky–in times like these (and with a writer like JMS–chuckle) all we have is our faith

First of all, welcome, Vicky!
Then, LadyT, with regard to your post. I agree the dynamic between Garibaldi and Sheridan is more
complex and more subtle than we might have originally thought. I too rewatched this interaction – forward,
backward, normal speed, slowmotion, fast forward, fast reverse, single step, you name it. I see a look from
Sheridan to Garibaldi that I don’t know how to label: there’s a determination in Sheridan’s look, but not the
openness of one trying to make peace with a friend. Garibaldi looks down. The gesture says “I’m not
having this exchange”. Sheridan’s expression changes, there’s a slight nod, as though he has confirmed
something in his own mind. Sheridan leaves, and Garibaldi goes into a flashback.

My thoughts on the whole subject are very dark right now, and I don’t want to say much until I have time to
sort it all through, but I don’t see Sheridan in this scene trying to “approach” Michael in a healing sense. I
see someone who wanted something from the interaction, and I’m not sure he didn’t get it.

All of you *must* go back and watch Spider in the Web. After I read Vicky’s post, I went and rewatched it.
The coincidences are *incredible* to say the least. Abel Horn couldn’t fight like Garibaldi, though. But I
think that might be because G was there when everything happened to Abel. Maybe he, on some level, is
remembering this and is able to fight it.

Sheridan refers to an experiment conducted 30 years prior to this show called EF Cyber Experiment Project
Lazarus. They used subjects on the verge of death-accident victims, wounded soldiers, AND people in
comas. (Saran Wrap scene?) The brain was hardwired and kept alive while the body was repaired. Then a
psicop deep scanned the victim making their last thought of death there only thought(the only thought in
Garibaldi’s head has been them asking that one question over and over). Which in turn shut down all
concious(sp?) thought. The computer in their brain then took over the victims movements, etc., while the
victim dies over and over in their subconcious(sp?).

But Abel couldn’t kill Talia even though his programming told him to. Sheridan explains to Garibaldi that it
was because she touched something in him that made him realize who he really was for a minute and that
was wreaking havoc on his programming. Abel blinked back and forth between the programming and
himself. What if being around familiar people and situations is triggering something similar in Garibaldi,
making him remember more and more about what happened to him. Could it be possible that he died in the
hands of the Shadows, they in turn gave him to the psicops who did something like what they did to Abel
and sent him back to B5 as a plant?

At the end of Spiders you see that senator telling the Bureau 13 to do whatever to get at B5. I took the
whole scene to mean that they needed someone on the station that they could control. For what purpose?
Probably to destroy the station. One question that arises that I can’t answer is if this *is* what’s going on
with Garibaldi, why didn’t Franklin find the hardwiring when he looked him over all those times?
Remember how emphatic Sheridan was that he was thoroughly checked out? Maybe they’ve perfected it
somehow. If this is true it would explain why Bester needs to be so close to them.

Here’s another question. Did Garibaldi quit because they told him to, or because he realized they wanted an
inside guy and it was the only way he could keep from getting/giving away B5’s secrets?

Eventually, with Talias help, Abel saw what they did to him, that it was a PsiCop. But Talia lied and never
told Sheridan and Garibaldi what she saw. They know that Bureau 13 is behind it, but they still don’t know
about the PsiCops. So Garibaldi is still in the dark about who’s done this to him. Maybe Lorien *did* tell
Sheridan all of this, but I still can’t figure out that scene between Sheridan and Garibaldi in Illusions. Any
thoughts? I’d love for you all to go rewatch this and start speculating! I’m not that great at it, but I think
Vicky has the right idea that Spiders is the key.

Sorry this is so long, but it’s giving me something to think about during he** weeks!

Date: 3/15/97 3:29:52 AM
From: Sheridan98
Posted on: America Online

posted for Brian Walz:
ATTENTION!

After several weeks of fighting that is best left to the reader’s
imagination, I have gotten my ISP to create a Church Of Joe mailing list
for me. After spending the past day or two getting it set up, I am now
ready to announce it to the world. (Or, rather, you fine people at first
to get the ball rolling and then the world in a few weeks…)

Now, you notice that it is called the Church Of Joe mailing list, but is
it just for that? No, it is for any and all sub-churches too. (Which at
this time is just the Shrine Of Garibaldi.) So, this is a place for those
who worship Joe and the G-mon too.

I have always wanted this to happen, but recent events have made me move
up my schedule. With all the potential problems that the Line Tales on AOL
might cause, we needed a place to take them, or risk losing them. So, I
created this mailing list.

For those of you who don’t know what a mailing list is, I will explain.
And for those who do, skip this section…

A mailing list is just like a message area on AOL except that it is
carried out in e-mail. You write messages and send them to the list,
and anyone who is subscribed gets a copy. When you reply to messages,
unless you change the reply-to address, everyone in the group gets a
copy. It will show up in your mailbox just like regular e-mail, except
that in the subject line you will see [COJ-List] to show you that it is
a message from/to the list.

Now the great thing about this is that, unlike the AOL message areas,
you can’t just stumble in by accident. Have have to join. Therefore Joe
can’t accidentally see something that might be considered a story idea, he
would have to deliberately come looking for it. (And we know he wouldn’t
do that.) So, the line tales can continue.

I hope to see a lot of you join. Here is how you do it… Send email to

majordomo@pacifier.com

with the following text in the body of the message…

subscribe coj-list

that is all there is to it. Don’t worry about the subject line, it gets
ignored. All that is important is the body text.

I’m sorry if I sound strident here, but I *still* say, whatever may have happened to out man (and I don’t
dispute the fact that something did) he is himself *except* around and about Sheridan. Whether that
relationship can be restored is open to question (my money’s on yes) but the Gmon is quite at ease with his

I posted elsewhere, I think, that since noticing this I’ve had some very disturbing thoughts about Sheridan,
what might have happened to him at Z’ha’dum, and especially about his dream, in which we see him in a
PsiCorps uniform. I keep remembering that G’Kar’s voiceover says that the questions are “*where* is Mr.
Garibaldi?” and “*what happened to* Captain Sheridan at Z’ha’dum?” {Emphasis is mine} Evil little voices
in my head keep asking if the PsiCop in Garibaldi’s cell flashback could be Sheridan?

See what reruns do to me??

I don’t think it was Sheridan…the PsiCop in Garibaldi’s cell was smaller in stature (at least according to my
often faulty memory) – more like someone of Bester’s stature.

So, if it was Bester, why don’t we get to see his face? There wouldn’t be anything surprising about Bester
playing games with Garibaldi’s mind. And while we were thinking the Shadows had taken the Gmon, and
therefore PsiCorps was something of a surprise, we had already heard “human” voices, and we knew from
earlier eps that the Shadows (via Morden) and PsiCorps were in league. We’re meant to know it’s a PsiCop,
but not to see who. Since Bester is our “favorite” PsiCop he’s at once the most and least obvious choice.

Agreed, Why don’t we see his face?? I don’t think it was Bester we saw coming in to Garibaldi’s holding
cell. I really think it was someone else. Possibly someone we don’t even know. Just a uniform to tell us
that it was Psi Corp that had him.

But refresh my memory someone (please, it tough to get old & senile as my 15yr old son says). Was Bester
mixed up in Bureau 13?? or was that out of his sphere of influence? Also I’ll have to go back to and
rewatch when Bester was on the station during IofT and was talking to the cryo unit that held his
girlfriend/mistress/lover, I don’t remember him mentioning anything about having a trump card, if you will.
Or did he. I’ll have to check that ep. It would seem a perfect place to drop a hint about having some control
over Garibaldi don’t you think.

What I was getting at wasn’t so much that the PsiCop in the cell was necessarily Bester, but that it definitely
wasn’t Sheridan (IMHO). Bester is working on his own person agenda under the guise of performing his
PsiCorp duties. I suspect the Ace in the Hole that Bester was referring to is probably either the knowledge
of the identity or control of another ‘sleeper agent’ on B5 (hopefully Not Garibaldi) that has been aluded to
on occasion. We don’t get to see his face in the cell because…the cell had just been gased; it would have
reduced the tension of the scene; JMS loves tormenting the fans with unanswered questions; we wouldn’t
have anything to discuss during rerun h_ll. :-)

Don’t worry Jen, being confused is nothing new with this story. JMS keeps us going in circles. That’s
what’s great about this story. It really makes you think. (wait a minute, is something burning in the
room???) :-)

Bester is “supposed” to be working with B5, but I believe only as long as it serves his wants & purposes.
And remember that he’s none too happy that his lover is still in cryo-freeze and hard wired to the Shadows.
He belives that they (B5 Med staff) just isn’t doing enough and is upset about it. Very impatient man he is.

From: TheLadyT
Posted on: America Online

It has been brought to my attention that, during this time of great sadness (i.e., rerun he**), many of you are
abusing your prescription chocolate. Please remember that prescription chocolate is to be used *as
prescribed* and not consumed as ordinary chocolate.

As we all know, prescription chocolate has no calories. However, a little-known side effect is that if it is
not consumed according to prescription (check with your doctor or pharmacist) weight gain is possible.

For those of you who have been unable to convince your doctor to give you a chocolate prescription, there
is still hope for you to survive these last few weeks before the end of rerun he** with minimal weight gain
due to chocolate consumption. You see, *any* chocolate (of good quality, that is) can be substituted for
prescription chocolate as long as it is consumed *as* prescription chocolate. If you have received a
prescription for chocolate before, simply follow your doctor’s previous instructions. However, if you’ve
never managed to convince your doctor to prescribe chocolate, you may use the following instructions:

1) Find a quiet place (for those with children, the bedroom can be used, but *never* the bathroom).
2) Before opening the package, take two cleansing breaths (in through the nose, out through the mouth).
3) As you open the package, take a moment to enjoy the scent of the chocolate.
4) As you take a bite, remember to breath slowly and pay special attention to your body’s sensations–savor
the flavor, feel the chocolate slowly enter your bloodstream, enjoy the chemical reactions as the chocolate
courses through your system and begins affecting every nerve ending in your body, notice the lightening of
your entire being as the chocolate lifts you out of the depths of depression.
5) Repeat as necessary.

We *can* get through rerun he**, my friends. There’s no need to abuse your chocolate prescriptions.

With Light and Love,
The Lady T

Taste is, of course, a great factor….however, texture, quality, and overall richness are the most important. I
highly recommend going to your local chocolateer for a “taste test” to determine which is best for the
individual.

BTW, there’s a chocolateer in Georgetown in Washington, DC, that has the most incredibly sensuous
peanut-butter melt-aways that…well….are better than “you know what.”

😉 But, after it’s over, we can switch channels & watch it again! (If you don’t miond being up until 2 AM)

I know I said I wanted reasons not to believe it, but now that I think of it, this whole clone thing might not
be too bad. I mean, one taking security duties and one for line “activities”. Hmmmmmm . . . this might not

But I would still thinks it’s kinda of a cheap trick, so I guess I still hope its not true, even if we could reap
the rewards!

Just watched the rerun of *IoT* which I missed half of when it originally aired. I think Garibaldi’s doubts
about Sheridan are not part of *programing*, but rather suspicions that have been growing since Sheridan
returned from Zha’Dum (did you catch Michael’s expression during Sheridan’s speech in the Zocolo?) As to
the ISN broadcast, seems to me that Garibaldi’s statements were probably as taken out of context as
everyone else’s was. We were very deliberately NOT shown the original interview. What I do think may
be *programing* would be Garibaldi’s resignation – “You work for no one but us”.

Sorry if this is a little off topic, but I need to get a message out to some folks, and this is one folder I feel
confident they will read.

It has been noted by those of us on the Grey Sector mailing list that some list members have full mail boxes.
Mail will no longer go through to them. But recently at least one such member sent me mail saying that she
hadn’t received any mail in weeks. So….

If you are part of the Grey Sector List, and you haven’t been receiving mail, the problem is in your mail
delivery. We are still active — very active — and you should be getting quite a number of messages every
day. If you’re not — and you know who you are — please check into the problem. (It has been suggested
that you try to read mail even if the icon doesn’t show that you have any. Other members have reported
getting false reports.)

We miss you!! And we want you back! But we can’t reach you via E-mail. We’ve been keeping a look-out
for you via Buddy Lists, but I figured if our group reads nothing else, they read the Garibaldi folder.

Thanks! And again, sorry for the off-topic post.

IMHO, this is a *very* important point. Garibaldi refuses to be interviewed when first approached by the
ISN guy. He is the only one whose original interview is not shown. So…is the final interview a warped
version of an unseen original, or is it a total fabrication? (The technology to do this is central to one of the
books, but, as we know, the books are not canon.)

Sez who? It was my understanding that everything issued about B5, including the comic books, would add
to the canon in some way. Don’t see how you can say that when Book #7 is all about Anna and how she
wound up at Z’hadum. Didn’t notice a thing in that book that was not confirmed by stuff I had seen in the
show.

Can’t resist bragging – actually got my very first autographed pictures at BABTREK. One from Jerry Doyle
and one from Walter Koenig. Told both of them how much I had enjoyed the show (and have already
purchased frame).

My best friend one-upped me with Walter though. She bought a picture of him in his Star Trek uniform and
said she wanted that one because she “watched him grow up”. He autographed it to her using her first
name!

We both had to work so couldn’t go to the actual con (even though we only lived 20 minutes away) but we
managed to get there on Sunday before the vendor room closed down – found an NTSC copy of the B5 pilot
(from a PAL original) and bought it because I had never seen it.

Hope they do it again next year – might be able to arrange to attend!

Sez JMS. Maybe the latest book has been more carefully coordinated with the series, but the earlier books
were definitely not (for example, Lyta is deaf in one of the books). JMS stated about a year ago on an AOL
board that the books are not canon and that he did not thoroughly read the manuscripts before they were
published. The comics may be a different matter. I know that Talia’s buried personality was foreshadowed
in the comics, so they must have been more carefully coordinated with JMS’ arc.

I’ve been thinking about this for a long time………(yikes! that’s scary!)

Many have been troubled by the fact that no one on the station seems to care that Mr. Garibaldi has “gone
over the edge”. Where’s Ivanova? Where’s Franklin? The man goes missing for 2 whole weeks, and when
he comes back, he’s acting really wierd. And no one notices, or if they notice, they don’t even investigate?
Hmmmmmmmm……..

{in major speculation mode}…………An idea has formed……….something sneaky, and twisted, and
underhanded. Could it be that Mr. Garibaldi’s seeming “transformation” is actually a plan by the Army of
Light to infiltrate the corrupt Earth Gov? Psi Corps has planted moles on the station (like Talia for
example), so why couldn’t Sheridan turn around and give the bad guys a dose of their own medicine? What
better way to find out what’s going on on Earth than to get one of your people on the inside of the enemy’s
organization? Have Garibaldi pretend to hate Sheridan, quit his post. A tempting bait to wave before Earth
Gov and Psi Corps.

Since JMS has already written this story arc……….no worries about spoiling things. Anyway, why else
would the command staff ignore the strange goings on of Mr. Garibaldi? As head of Security, he knows too
much to just write off his strange behavour. No investigation = sneaky plan?

Fossil,

You’ve got me thinking about this — probably because I can’t stand what appears to be happening to
Garibaldi, and I welcome any other theory. What do you make of the coded transmission in Epiphanies?
Who would have sent it? And why? Did Garibaldi understand it on a conscious level or was it simply a
trigger to his programming? (or does your theory rule out programming?)

A thought just this moment, don’t know if it holds up: Is it possible he was programmed, but has realized it,
and is using others’ belief that he is programmed to infiltrate them?

As desperately as I want new episodes I’m afraid to watch because I *hate* what’s happening to Garibaldi!
Are you listening, JMS?! I hate it! Hate, HATE, HATE!!! It’s one of the most riveting plot threads you’ve

I may be hallucinating this, but I asked JMS about this when he actually visited the Ask JMS board

be in one of the Ask JMS folders from at least a year ago. Still, it’s a pretty strange coincidence…

I believe Garibaldi knows he has been messed with. That, I believe is why he resigned. It’s really the only
thing he can do to protect those he cares about–distance himself from them as much as possible. His
resignation doesn’t make a lot of sense any other way. He would be much more useful to the enemies of the
AOL in his capacity as Security Chief than as a freelance gumshoe. His badmouthing of the AOL on ISN
would also have more impact if he were still officially with them. As it is, they risk him coming off as a
disgruntled ex-employee. As usual, the Gmon his throwing himself on the grenade. Too bad, this time, no

I guess the thing that bothers me the most is the very “public” displays that Garibaldi and Sheridan are
having. If Sheridan were really interested in having a talk with the Gmon, why not go to his quarters to
have the talk. Surely Sheridan knows where Garibaldi lives.

{in major speculation mode again} I think that Garibaldi was messed with by Bester (refered to as his “ace
in the hole”), and that Franklin found this on his examination of Garibaldi upon his return to the station.
The Army of Light then kept this news from becoming public knowledge, waiting for the time Bester would
put his plan into effect. Garibaldi remembered about being held captive, and, although the memories were
fragmented, they were still complete enough to be useful.

All this thinking is making my brain hurt! Ack! Anyway, I just think these public displays between
Garibaldi and Sheridan are just that, public displays for the benefit of President Clark’s people on the
station. Sneaky…….you betcha. Underhanded……..abso-fraggin’-lutely. But when you’re fighting the forces
of evil, sometimes you gotta fight fire with fire.

Hi, folks!

The Babylon 5 Cast & Crew message board only holds 50 folders (topics). We maintain the boards at 50
folders so there’s room for new folders to be created. When a new folder is created, or a folder is filled to
capacity with 450 posts, we archive and delete the folder. We wanted to let you know that we’ve archived
the Garibaldi #5 folder to which you all contributed. The archive will be available in the Transcripts and
Logs Library in a few days.

Thanks for your interest in Babylon 5!

Oh heavens Fossil,

I hope you’re right!!! And this explanation would explain why his friends *haven’t* been to see him and to
try to help him any!
